Beaches

Romania has a beautiful coast with white sandy beaches, fine resorts and water sports facilities. The most popular resorts include Dobrudja, Constanta, Mangalia and Mamaia.


Sightseeing

Romania offers countless tourist attractions. There are charming medieval towns, traditional villages, numerous castles, beautiful coast and magnificent mountains. In Bucharest one can admire diverse architecture: the most prestigious concert hall in Romania – Romanian Athenaeum, the Arch of Triumph, the colossal Parliament Palace (after the Pentagon it is the second largest office building in the world) and the National Library. Other cities that are also worth visiting include Brasov, Constanta, Iasi, Medias and Timisoara.


Hiking and rock climbing

The Carpathian Mountains are perfect for hiking and rock climbing. There are many routes and trails, for example in Transylvania or one of the 400 Romanian national parks and nature reserves. Hiking and climbing is a great opportunity to observe the nature and wildlife. The best areas for climbing include Busteni, Sinaia, Zarnesti and Petrosani.


Skiing

The Carpathian Mountains offer great conditions for skiing and snowboarding. The most popular ski resorts are Sinaia, Poiana Brasov, Predeal, Paltinis and Runcu. The main advantages of skiing in Romania are uncrowded pistes and low prices (compared to Western Europe).


Water sports

The Romanian Black Sea coast, lakes and rivers are perfect for water sports. It is possible to enjoy swimming, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, rafting and many other types of water sports.


Fishing

Fishing in Romania requires a recreational fishing license. The license can be obtained from the Romanian General Association of Hunters and Anglers (AGVPS). It is possible to fish for carp, catfish, pike, sturgeon and many other species. Fishing is prohibited from April 1 till May 31.


Nightlife

Nightlife in Romania is not different from nightlife in other European countries. In major cities one can find discos, nightclubs, restaurants, casinos, theatres and bars.


Others

Besides the activities mentioned above, other recommended ways of spending time include catching some traditional folk music and dancing, relaxing in thermal springs, horse riding, cycling and many others.
