By air

By sea

The main sea port is Constanta. It is possible to get to Romania by sea from Turkey or through the Danube River from Germany and Austria.

By car

The main border crossings of Romania are:

GETTING AROUND


By bus/tram

Public transport is inexpensive. In major cities one can travel by buses, trolleybuses and trams. In Bucharest there is also the underground system.


By taxi

Taxis are inexpensive. They can be found at taxi stands, hailed in the street or ordered by phone. Every authorized cab is equipped with taximeter and has a ‘taxi’ sign on the roof.


By car

Driving is on the right side of the road. International and foreign driving licenses are accepted. Driver must also have insurance documents and car registration documents. There is a zero tolerance policy on drunk driving. Driver and passengers must wear seat belts. Speed limits: built-up areas – 50 km/h, highways – 130 km/h, other roads – 90 km/h.
