GETTING AROUND

By bus/tram

Switzerland has an excellent and efficient public transport system. In major cities one can travel by tram, trolleybus or light rail. Tickets can be bough from ticket machines.

By taxi

Taxis are plentiful. They can be found at taxi stands or ordered by phone.

By car

Driving is on the right side of the road. Foreign and international driving licenses are accepted. Speed limits: towns – 50 km/h, open roads – 80 km/h, semi-motorways – 100 km/h, motorways – 120 km/h. The maximum alcohol level is 0.5 milligrams of alcohol per millilitre of blood. The use of seat belts is mandatory both in the front and the rear seats. Use of dipped headlights during the day is recommended. Mandatory equipment include a warning triangle and snow chains in areas indicated by appropriate sign.
