National dish

Hákarl – putrefied shark meat, prepared by burying shark meat in gravel for several weeks
Lifrarpylsa – liver sausage
Lundabaggar – sour lamb
Blódmör – “blond pudding” cooked in a sheep’s stomach
Hangikjöt – smoked lamb
Hrútspungar – pressed sheep testicles
Harðfiskur – dried fish
Sviðasulta – boiled lamb head jelly compressed in gelatine
Svið – burned sheep head


Electricity

Iceland’s electricity runs on 220V/50Hz. The plugs need to have 2 pins, the same style as in Continental Europe.


Passport/Visa

European Union, US, Canadian and Australian citizens do not need visa for entry into Iceland (for stays of up to 90 days). Only a valid passport is required. Nationals of the Schengen zone need only national identity cards.
