CLIMATE


Climate in Greece is mainly Mediterranean with sunny, hot and dry summers, and mild winters. Climate in northern Greece is completely different with freezing winters and hot, humid summers.




Temperatures

The average monthly temperatures in northern Greece: 5-7ºC in winter and 25-27ºC in summer, in southern and central Greece: 8-10ºC in winter and 27-28ºC in summer, on the islands (Rhodes, Crete): 13ºC in winter and 29ºC in summer. The average water temperature: 13ºC in winter and 24ºC in summer.


Precipitation

Annual total precipitation: 400 mm on the eastern coast, 1000 mm on the western coast and 2000 mm in the mountains.
