Diving in Albania is relatively new and it is still developing. However, the number of diving centres is growing and there are lots of sites waiting to be discovered. Divers who decide to visit Albania will have a chance to explore a beautiful underwater landscape, rich marine life, archeological remains and shipwrecks.

Ksamil Bay


Fushë Me Sfungjer – the name of this area could be translated as “Sponge Field”. The underwater landscape of this site includes rocks and yellow sponges clinging to the rocks. The average depth is 6 metres.
Location: Saranda
Type of dive: shore dive
Sea bed: sand, rock
Requirements: BSAC Ocean Diver, PADI Open Water


Italian freighter – the wreck of a 110 meters-long Italian freighter lies at the maximum depth of 18 metres. The shop was sunk during the World War II by the German bombers. The wreck is marked with a buoy and its highest point is just 3 metres from the surface. Visibility in this area usually is very good – about 20 metres.
Location: the Bay of Saranda (300 metres from the shore)

Ksamil Bay – this is a sheltered site with a labyrinth of rocks and dozens of pen shells sticking out of the sea bottom. Sometimes divers can see rays in this area. This is an easy and shallow dive.
